Police officers 'didn't make racist comments'

A NUMBER of Kent Police officers, believed to come from Thanet, are at the centre of an investigation into racist behaviour.

A member of the public made a complaint about officers, claiming they had made racist jokes and comments while on a cross-channel ferry.

A spokesman from Kent Police’s HQs press office said no officers were connected with the comments but an investigation is still taking place.

A police spokesman said: “Kent Police take very seriously any allegations of inappropriate behaviour by its officers whether they are on duty or off.

“The force’s Professional Standards department is investigating what has taken place and if enquiries reveal that action needs to be taken against any officers then that will be done.”
