Man found injured at Birchington train station may have been assaulted

Detectives are investigating an incident in Birchington after a man was found injured at the railway station.

Officers from British Transport Police were called at 7.45pm on Saturday night and the station closed to the public, with Southeastern warning passengers that services to the town had been temporarily stopped.

A spokesman for the BTP says a man was taken to hospital for assessment.

"His injuries are not believed to be serious," he said.

"Enquiries are being made to establish the cause of the man’s injuries and whether he was assaulted."
