Two men are being quizzed by police after an attempted robbery on a Ramsgate jeweller's.

Parts of the town’s busy Queen Street were cordoned off and closed to traffic this morning as investigations got under way.

Officers have now left the scene, and police have not named the shop involved, but it is believed to be Cuttings.

A witness said he believed two men entered the shop armed with planks of wood. It is thought they were wearing dark-coloured clothing, and may have been held inside the store.

They were then said to have tried to flee on a motorbike or moped, before running off and being caught by police.

No one is reported as being injured following the incident at around 10am today.
