Miss Ramsgate Cara Onken gets ready for her big day

Ramsgate carnival court will look their very best when they star in the town’s annual procession on Sunday, July 22, thanks to Jo Jo’s hair and beauty salon in the town.

Miss Ramsgate Cara Onken and her princesses Nikita Ansell and Vanessa Leppard will be given a stylish makeover for the parade that is due to leave Government Acre on the Royal Esplanade at 4pm.

Carnival chairman Ann East said: "The owner and her team are doing the girls’ hair, nails and anything else they need.

"This is really generous in the economic climate – it shows that community spirit in Ramsgate is thriving, and this is what we promote with the carnival.

"Small businesses like Jo Jo’s are an asset to the promotion of Ramsgate and should be recognised for their generosity."

There will be a funfair and market at Government Acre during the carnival weekend from noon to 6pm.

The procession leaves at 4pm.

Procession route: St Augustine’s Road, Paragon, Royal Parade, Harbour Parade, Madeira Walk, Wellington Crescent, Plains of Waterloo, King Street, Queen Street, Westcliff Road, Grange Road and Government Acre
