TWO grammar schools in Thanet have been honoured by the Department for Education and Skills. Chatham House at Ramsgate and Dane Court at Broadstairs are among the winners of this year’s School Achievement Awards, given for performance and results in 2000/2001.

John Mathews, head teacher at Chatham House, said: “I am proud of our pupils and teachers for their enthusiasm and continuing endeavour, and I am delighted that this has been recognised by the Department for Education.”

Robin Curtis, head teacher at Dane Court, said: “This is fitting recognition of the hard work that has been put in by so many dedicated staff.”

Chatham House was named to best overall performing school in Kent of GCSE and A level results in The Times after last summer’s examinations.
