Six more police officers are being investigated for misconduct over "inappropriate" photos taken after the brutal stabbing of two sisters.

It comes after two Metropolitan Police officers were arrested in June after allegedly taking photos of the scene in Wembley.

Nicole Smallman and Bibaa Henry - aged 27 and 46 - were stabbed to death in a park where they had spent the evening celebrating Bibaa’s birthday.

The "beautiful and talented" sisters, whose parents live in Ramsgate , were found dead in Fryent Country Park in Brent, London, just before 1.10pm on June 7.

On June 17, the Met's Directorate of Professional Standards was informed of allegations that "non-official and inappropriate photographs" had been taken by police at the crime scene.

These images were shared on a closed WhatsApp group.

The The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) made an immediate referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which launched an independent investigation.

On June 22, two Met officers were arrested by the IOPC on suspicion of misconduct in public office .

They have since been released under investigation.

Both officers – who are based on the Met's North East Command – have been suspended from duty.

The IOPC has now completed its investigation, and has sent a report to the MPS which is currently being reviewed by the Directorate of Professional Standards.

The report will also be sent to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The Met has now revealed that during the course of the investigation, further possible misconduct matters came to light.

mThe IOPC have advised six additional officers are under investigation for misconduct in relation to the inappropriate and non-official photographs from the crime scene in Fryent Country Park.

In addition, possible misconduct unrelated to the Wembley incident, and involving a small number of officers, has been identified by the IOPC.

All officers are based on the North East Command.

No more officers are suspended or on restricted duties at this stage.

These matters are being independently investigated by the IOPC and the MPS is providing full support.

The families of Bibaa and Nicole have been informed by the IOPC.

The women's parents Chris and Wilhelmina Smallman, from Ramsgate , have spoken of their devastation and paid tribute to their daughters following the tragic stabbing .

"The greatest fear of any parent is that they will outlive their children," they said. "What makes our situation unique is that two adored sisters were murdered together on the same night.

"The grief we feel is palpable, our beautiful and talented daughters gone.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have seen, heard, or know something to please contact the police who are investigating what has happened to our daughters, Bibaa and Nicole."

A teenager was arrested last month as part of the police investigation .
