Fire at Nelson Park Riding Centre in St Margarets Road, Birchington

A suspicious fire broke out at a horseriding centre early this morning.

Emergency services were called to Nelson Park Riding Centre in St Margaret's Road, Birchington, at 3.20am following reports that a horsebox was ablaze.

The fire, which is believed to have started before 3am, spread to a number of trailers and trees on the premises.

Five fire engines were sent to the scene, and crews extinguished the flames with compressed air foam.

No injuries were reported.

Members of KFRS’ Volunteer Response Team were on-hand to offer welfare and advice to those affected.

Police are treating the blaze as suspicious and detectives are appealing for anyone who might have seen two people in the area shortly before the fire to come forward.
