A taser was fired as two police officers were allegedly beaten up outside a nightspot.

The incident apparently happened outside the Purple Bar in Elephant Hill, Margate, yesterday at around 1.20am.

Officers had been called to assist door staff at the premises and arrested 23-year-old Farzad Taky.

But two officers allegedly suffered cuts and brusing to their heads and faces as he was taken into custody.

He is charged with assaulting two police officers with the intent of resisting arrest.

A Kent Police spokesman said a taser was discharged in the incident.
