A 43-year-old woman was punched in the face and pushed to the ground by two teenage boys as she walked through the Newington area of Ramsgate.

The victim was in St James Avenue shortly before midnight on Saturday when her attackers asked her for the time.

They then asked if she had a mobile phone. When she could not help them, she was assaulted.

Police say the boys, thought to be aged 14 or 15, ran off towards Melbourne Avenue. One attacker is about 5ft 9in tall, the other about 5ft 5in. One wore a baseball cap, the other a hooded top.

A man who stopped to help the woman is being asked to contact Thanet police as he may have vital information. The telephone numbr is 01843 231055.
