Margate: Teenager arrested following motorbike theft spate in Thanet

A teenager has been arrested after a spate of motorbike thefts in Thanet.

Several mopeds and motorbikes have been recovered by police on patrol in Margate, following more than 25 recent reports vehicles being stolen in the district.

Three people ran away from police when approached by officers carrying out stop checks in the Millmead area on Thursday, May 10.

They left behind a motorbike, and following a search of the nearby woodland, another two were recovered.

Two of the vehicles were confirmed as reported stolen, from Harold Road on May 8 and from Ramsgate Road on May 10, and their owners have been informed.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the owner of the third bike.

A 17-year-old boy from Margate was arrested on suspicion of stealing a vehicle.

He was released pending further investigation.
