Broadstairs: Teenage girl taken to hospital after being hit by a van in Margate Road

A teenage girl was flown to hospital with a serious leg injury after being struck by a van.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Margate Road, Broadstairs, shortly after 2pm yesterday.

The stretch of road was closed between the roundabout for Poorhole Lane and the Haine Road roundabout while emergency services were at the scene.

Police have made two arrests.

An ambulance spokesman said: "We were called at approximately 2pm yesterday to Westwood Retail Park, Broadstairs, to reports a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle.

"Ambulance crews attended the scene and were joined at the scene by the air ambulance service.

"A girl, with a serious leg injury, was treated before being airlifted to Kings College Hospital."

A police spokesman said: "Police were called to the scene at 2.06pm.

"A teenage girl has suffered an injury."
