Police cordons were in place in Ramsgate town centre this afternoon after it was reported that an air weapon was being fired.

Officers were alerted to an address in Brunswick Street at 1.40pm.

A 15-year-old boy from Ramsgate was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

A resident said there had been considerable speculation in the town about what was happening due to the high level of police activity.
