Man arrested in Thanet after armed police called to Birchington and Minster

A man has been arrested after armed police were scrambled to Thanet.

Officers were called to Farrar Road, Birchington, at 9.10pm yesterday following fears for a man's safety.

They made further inquiries at an address in Minster before arresting a 46-year-old man on suspicion of assault and burglary.

Police said the man remains in custody today.

A spokesman confirmed armed officers "provided additional support".
