The Libertines open new hotel in Eastern Esplanade, Cliftonville

Rock band The Libertines have announced the name of their new hotel in Margate, and given fans a sneak peek of the seaside site.

The foursome revealed the venture, which opens this summer, will be called The Albion Rooms.

Reportedly costing a total of £450,000, the renovation includes a recording studio.

A video posted on YouTube shows the musicians opening up the building and looking around the shared facilities and bedrooms.

In September last year, KentOnline reported Thanet District Council had received a planning application for the erection of a rear extension.

A statement posted on the group's website said: "The Libertines were handed the keys to The Albion Rooms in September 2017.

"Margate is a classic seaside resort, particularly popular with Londoners, for those looking for sandy beaches and a good knees up.

"But, Margate also has rich artistic roots and a free spirit that thrives today, embodied by its old town and the Turner Contemporary gallery.

"This mix of traditional English charm and modern cool gives it plenty of libertine appeal."

The hotel is in Eastern Esplanade, Cliftonville.
