Three people had to be rescued after being trapped in a lift in a home for the elderly.

A man and woman in their 70s and a woman nurse were stuck for 10 to 15 minutes when it was stopped by a power cut.

It happened at the two-storey Ramsgate Care Centre in the town’s Boundary Road at about 12.45pm today.

Ramsgate Fire Station crew manager Paul Cook said: “The lift was stuck between the ground and first floors. We got the three out after we manually lowered the lift.”

The lift stopped working after a power cut and other staff raised the alarm.
