Margate: Travellers again take over car park next to Dreamland

Yet another group of travellers has taken over the car park next to Dreamland.

The site, which is council owned, was visited by police yesterday with officers from Thanet District Council going today.

Within the past few months, about three groups of caravans have descended on the car park.

A spokesman for TDC said: "We are aware of the illegal traveller encampment that has arrived at Dreamland car park.

"Officers from Thanet District Council are visiting the site today in order to undertake the necessary welfare assessments and following that, as appropriate, the required notices will be issued."

Police were called to the site yesterday afternoon after travellers set up.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a reported unauthorised encampment in Marine Terrace, Margate, at 3.29pm on Thursday 28, June 28.

No offences have been reported and the matter will be dealt with by the landowner, which is the standard procedure in terms of any eviction process.
