Police investigating a suspected arson are trying to trace three people who were spotted riding a scooter near the scene of the fire.

The blaze broke out at a garden shed in Tomlin Drive, Margate, at 5.35pm on Sunday before spreading to nearby homes - prompting a rescue mission to save two dogs.

Police believe the Margate fire could have been started deliberately

Four fire engines were called to the scene, where crews fought to extinguish the flames for almost four hours.

They initially searched one of the affected homes due to fears people were still inside.

But officials confirmed everyone had been accounted for except two dogs that were rescued from the buildings.
