Margate: Man in serious condition after beach incident

A man remains in a serious condition after an incident on Margate seafront yesterday evening.

Police and paramedics were called at around 6.20pm to the lido, just off Marine Terrace. Reports on social media claimed that man had hit his head in the boating pool.

The air ambulance was also called.

The man, who is in his 30s, was airlifted to a local hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

A police spokesman said: "Officers attended but there are no suspicious circumstances and no offences reported."

Yesterday was the first day of the school holidays, with hundreds descending on Margate beach.
