Drivers are warned to remove valuables from cars - after at least 16 cars were targeted in an overnight string of attacks across Thanet.

Police are investigating a string of incidents that are thought to have taken place between yesterday evening (Monday 9), and the early hours of this morning.

In each of the reports, car windows have been broken. In some cases, items including satnavs, keys, cash, dashcams a bluetooth speaker and a bag containing a hoodie were moved or stolen from the vehicles.

The damage and thefts happened from cars parked in Westgate, in the Linksfield Road and Limington Road area, as well as Cambourne Avenue and Minster Road.

In Birchington, cars in Sea View Heights, Epple Road and Minnis Road were targeted, while in Broadstairs affected areas included Beacon Road and Victoria Avenue.

In Garlinge, cars were reported damaged in Brooke Avenue, Alicia Avenue and Kingston Avenue.

In Margate, the incidents took place in Northdown Park Road, Ramsgate Road, Madeira Road, St James' Park Road and Canterbury Road.

Police are calling for anyone with information to get in touch.

Sergeant Steve Moat from Thanet community safety unit said: "We would like to hear from anyone who thinks their vehicle has been damaged or stolen from, and ask that they report it via 101 or online, as it will help investigating officers to build up a picture of the areas affected and could provide further investigative opportunities to identify those responsible.

"While patrols will be out in the areas to prove reassurance and carry out enquiries, we also ask anyone who might have home CCTV footage in those streets to come forward and assist by calling 01843 222289 quoting the relevant crime reference number.

"Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 or using the anonymous online form at Crimestoppers-uk.org

"Finally, we urge people to ensure they remove any valuable items from their vehicles, including dashboard cameras and satnav devices - don’t give thieves the satisfaction of finding something to steal."
