Woman hurt in crash in Birchington

An 86-year-old woman was left lying in the road with head injuries after a crash in Birchington.

Police are appealing for information following the crash.

The pensioner was treated at the scene by ambulance crews for head and leg injuries following the accident just after midday yesterday at the junction of Shakespeare Road and Beach Avenue.

She was then taken to the William Harvey Hospital, where she is expected to make a full recovery.

It is not yet known whether the woman was struck by a vehicle and any witnesses should contact Kent Police.
