The 20-year-old former Walker Cup player from Birchington, who plays at North Foreland, led an English one-two. winning by two shots from Jason Palmer from Leicestershire, with fellow Kent man Jason Barnes from Ashford, tied third.

Orrin, who only turned professional last year, pocketed a winners cheque of 41,500 Euros to climb 51 places in the rankings to 17, and win a spot in the season’s, finale, the Dubai Festival City Challenge Tour Grand Final. He now stands one win away from securing his place on the main tour.

Speaking to the European Tour website, Orrin said: “I was speechless,” said the Kent player. All day I was trying to stay away from thinking about it. Even on the last hole I never thought ‘I’ve got this for the win.’

“It was difficult to comprehend that it was me that was actually going to win an event. I was just a wreck down the last to be honest. I spoke to my coach the night before and he said, ‘commit to every shot, it doesn’t matter where it goes, just commit to it.’

"I’ve got so many emotions. I wished my family were here to see. it, but they watched back home. It’s a great thrill to be a champion."
