An animal protection group is warning pet owners to be vigilant after a cat was stabbed to death.

South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty (SNARL) is investigating the attack which took place in broad daylight in Waveney Road, Tonbridge.

The organisation said it is one of many incidents which have been reported recently, with others happening in Tunbridge Wells.

It said the injuries matched those associated with the UK Animal Killer and warned more attacks are expected.

A member of the public found the cat and another provided a soft blanket to wrap it in.

They rushed it to the vets but the injuries were too severe and it died of shock en route.

To raise awareness, the group is leafleting in the area and informed the police.

Anyone with information should contact SNARL on 020 8058 7778.
