Five Tonbridge and Malling residents and five local groups will be thanked for ‘going the extra mile’ to improve their local environment this week.

On Wednesday mayor of Tonbridge and Malling, Cllr Sasha Luck, will present certificates and prizes to this year’s Environmental Champions award winners at Tonbridge Castle.

They were all nominated through Tonbridge & Malling Council’s Environmental Champions’ Scheme.

Cllr Brian Luker, the Council’s cabinet member for environmental services will also attend the presentation along with Vic Window, Regional Operations Manager, Veolia Environmental Services (UK) PLC, which is supporting the awards again this year.

This is the seventh time local residents and groups have been rewarded through the scheme, which was launched in 2009 to encourage more people to make an extra effort to improve the environment.
