Tonbridge: Family and friends pay tribute to A26 crash victim Josh Field

Tributes have been paid to a much-loved Tonbridge man killed in a crash on the A26 near Crowborough yesterday.

The motorcyclist, named locally as Josh Field, died when his red and black Suzuki GSXR motorcycle collided with a silver Ford Fusion driven by a 70-year-old woman just before 3pm.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the 24-year-old could not be saved.

Friends and family have paid tribute to a loving and caring friend, coworker and son.

Mr Field's mother Mandy Field, said: "Thank you for all the lovely messages the flowers and cards, just shows how much he was loved, my heart is breaking the tears won't stop flowing.

"I just want to hold my darling boy one more time, rest in peace my darling son, god I'm going to miss you."

Mr Field was a partner at Dapper Dans barber's shop in Tonbridge High Street. He loved sport and his hobbies included boxing and motorcycles.

Georgie May, who worked with him for five years, said: "Words can't describe how I'm feeling. Absolutely shocked as Josh was such a loving, caring person.

"A fantastic friend and boss to me for over five years he made me the barber I am.

"We have lost a fantastic guy and heaven has gained a wonderful person once again.
Josh Field you will be truly missed by so many people."

She added: "I went into work this morning but I had to shut the shop up. He was supposed to be working today."

An air ambulance landed at nearby Crowborough Beacon golf course after the accident happened and the road was closed for at least six hours.

Geoff Tompkins,70, was driving south on the A26 after visiting his son in Tunbridge Wells and witnessed the aftermath of the crash.

He said: "Within 10 minutes of the serious accident being reported the first of numerous paramedics, police, ambulances including an air ambulance, arrived on the scene.

"There must have been at least eight medical people attending the poor victim. [They were] visibly shaken and upset they eventually had to give up."

"They were magnificent."

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have seen the group of motorcyclists heading north on the A26 in the time leading up to it, to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting Operation Drape.
