A FAMILY is in shock after finding the decapitated body of their pet rabbit in an alleyway.

Donna Lewis and her five children made the horrific discovery last Saturday and are convinced the Giant French Lop Louis’ death is an act of human cruelty and not the result of an animal attack.

Mrs Lewis, of Greenfrith Drive, Tonbridge, said it was her seven-year-old son Jordan who realised Louis was missing from his hutch in the back garden.

They found the bunny's body in the ally opposite their home. His whole head was missing, and the family found his severed ears were lying nearby.

Mrs Lewis said: "We're in shock. To think that somebody could be so sick as to do something like that."

Police are appealing for any information about Louis’ death, which occurred sometime between 6.30pm on Friday, February 25 and Saturday, February 26. Contact West Kent Police on 01732 370732.
