Man to go on trail accused of trying to stab his wife to death in nail bar in Tonbridge High Street

A Tonbridge man is to go on trial next month accused of trying to stab his wife to death in a nail bar.

Thuan Dinh denied attempting to murder his estranged partner Lien Dinh when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday.

Through an interpreter, the 52-year-old also pleaded not guilty to a lesser charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and possessing a knife in public.

Ms Dinh, who is in her 40s, was stabbed at VCC Boutique in Tonbridge High Street shortly after 9am on March 11.

She was taken to hospital where her condition was said at the time to be serious but stable.

Mr Dinh, of Rowan Mews, will stand trial on September 7, and the trial is expected to last up to five days.

Judge Philip Statman remanded Dinh into custody.
