A robber wearing a toy policeman’s helmet vaulted a betting shop counter and grabbed some money during a raid yesterday evening.

The incident happened at William Hill, in Tonbridge High Street, at about 9.20pm.

The man went into the shop and threatened a member of staff.

He demanded money, and when this was refused he jumped over the counter, grabbed an amount of cash and then left. No one was injured.

Detectives, who are appealing for witnesses, decribed the man as white, aged between 28 and 35, and about 5ft 8ins. He had a bald or shaved head and was wearing a dark blue top and blue tracksuit trousers. He had white diagonal stripes on the bottom of the leg, near the ankle.
