A 31-year-old man from Kent was among three people who died in a road crash in East Sussex, police have revealed.

Perry Carter, from Tonbridge, died when the Citroen Zx he was driving was involved in a collision with a Ford Granada at St Leonards, near Hastings, last Monday. One of the vehicles burst into flames.

The driver of the Granada, Kenneth Thornett, 48, of St Leonards, also died, as did Aaron Hogg, a 13-year-old family friend. Four other people suffered serious injuries in the accident.

Sussex Police said the Ford was travelling along the Queensway when it veered into the opposite carriageway and collided head-on with the Citroen before bursting into flames.

The coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held.
