One of the ringleaders in the £53 million Securitas robbery has been freed from prison.

The Sun newspaper is reporting that Paul Allen, 37, who has served six years of an 18-year sentence, has returned home to south east London.

As he'd also served three years on remand, he has qualified for release on licence having completed half of his term.

The raiders netted £53,116,760 in cash belonging to the Bank of England when they struck the Securitas depot in Tonbridge in February 2006.

The site's manger's family was threatened and 14 staff tied up and held in cages while the gang grabbed the cash.

Allen was one of five men jailed for their part in the crime.
