Christmas will be different in many ways this year, thanks to Covid, but some things never change.
The Tonbridge Lions Club is planning to be on the streets again grinding music from their barrel organ, just as they have every year since 1952.
The Lions use the occasion to collect money for good causes and this year any donations received will go towards festive hampers for deserving individuals and families in the Tonbridge area.
The organ will make its first appearance this Friday at a spot near the Iceland store in Sovereign Way, and yes, it will be possible to make contactless donations as an alternative to the tin cup collections.
Mike Fenn, this year’s chairman of the barrel organ committee, said: “We very much hope that we will be able to roll out the barrel organ this year despite the Covid restrictions. We want to bring some Christmas cheer to the people of Tonbridge."
