Tonbridge Angels will be out to end another team’s unbeaten record this weekend.

Fresh from inflicting a first defeat on local rivals Maidstone, Steve McKimm’s side host unbeaten Kingstonian at Longmead on Saturday. But McKimm will be without goal hero Alex Teniola, who is returning to Nigeria for a family funeral.

“He will be missed but we have to deal with the situation,” said McKimm. “It’s not nice for Alex as he’s got to head home for that. It’s a test that we have to overcome.”

Teniola struck the 90th-minute winner on Bank Holiday Monday to end Maidstone’s 100% start to the Ryman League Premier Division season.

It also ensured McKimm’s side preserved their unblemished home record which now stands at three wins from three in the league. His side are still unable to boast a point away from home, though, after they lost 2-0 to Wingate & Finchley last Saturday.

McKimm now hopes to break Kingstonian’s record while preserving his own.

“At some stage they will have to lose a game,” said the Angels manager. "But that’s the same as us with our form at home. It will be broken at some point, but we hope it’s not on Saturday.”

Chris Piper is set to be sidelined for several weeks after picking up a knock against Wingate, while Nathan Campbell and Jon Heath both have hamstring injuries.
