Former Dover Athletic forward Nathan Elder looking forward to getting stuck in with Tonbridge Angels

Nathan Elder is looking forward to leading from the front in his first full season with Tonbridge Angels.

The centre-foward is relishing the challenge ahead of him and has even set himself a personal goal.

Elder said: “My target is to score 20 league goals. I haven’t done it for a while but that is achievable given the calibre of players I have around me.

“I am feeling fit and strong and good to give it a real crack.”

What should help Elder in his bid is that he will be playing regular football, something he didn’t do before signing for Steve McKimm’s side at the end of last season after his contract expired at Dover Athletic.

He fell out of favour at Whites and had loan spells with Hayes & Yeading and Maidstone United before spending the final six weeks of last season at Longmead.

Now Elder is keen to put that all behind him and focus on the job at hand.

He said: “I am loving life at Tonbridge and hopefully that will reflect in my performances.

“We have been working hard in pre-season and we’ve been a bit unlucky with a couple of results so far. I thought we played well against Ebbsfleet on Tuesday night despite the 2-0 scoreline."
