Tonbridge are looking forward to a reunion with former striker Nathan Elder this Saturday.

Angels are off to Sittingbourne, where Elder is assistant manager, for their second pre-season friendly.

Elder scored 65 goals in three years at Longmead before moving into coaching last summer.

Tonbridge boss Steve McKimm said: “Nathan got in touch and asked about a friendly and we were only too happy to go there.

“It worked for us as we didn’t have a game that day and it will be good to see Nathan.

“We’ve played Sittingbourne before and it’s a nice place to go.

“I don’t know Chris (Lynch), the manager, but I’ve heard he came highly rated from the Dover academy.

“They’ve got a young side and they’ve brought in a couple of lads from Millwall, so it’ll be a good game to get some more minutes in the boys.”

Chinedu McKenzie and Jared Small scored as Tonbridge won 2-0 at Sutton Common Rovers in their opening friendly last Friday.

McKimm said: “We gave some trialists a run-out and it was a chance to bed the new boys in – the result and the performance didn’t matter.

“It’s come round quickly, because the play-offs went on an extra week and the season starts earlier, but that might be a good thing for us because we have that momentum.

“A couple of the boys looked all right, in terms of trailists, and we’ll make decisions over the next couple of games.

“I’m looking at bringing one or two more players in.

“If they come from the trialists we’ve got, great. If not, we’ll look elsewhere.”
