Boss Steve McKimm has set Tonbridge a target of 80 points to reach the Bostik Premier
play-offs.

Angels are 11th on 41 points after Alex Akrofi scored the only goal to shatter Enfield’s unbeaten home record on Tuesday night.

Victory followed a 1-0 defeat at Leatherhead at the weekend.

Tonbridge have 18 games to get the 39 points McKimm is after, starting with trips to Leiston on Saturday and Met Police on Tuesday.

McKimm said: “We’ve got to win a certain amount of games to get to the play-offs.

“People can do the maths but if we get to 80 points we might have a chance. If we get to 80 and don’t get in then everyone else has had a good season, that’s the way I look at.

“If 80 isn’t good enough, it isn’t good enough but I don’t see why we can’t have a go. Whatever happens in these next two games, it won’t be the end of our season.”

McKimm has missed out on two transfer targets, questioning the players’ desire.

He said: “I rack my brains wondering what players want out of the game. They tell you one thing and the next minute it’s totally different.

“If a player has a chance to jump a league he should be happy with the same money or take less.

“It should be about ambition, not wanting more money because it’s a higher league.”
