The Kent Schools Athletic Association annual cross country championships, due to be held at The Schools at Somerhill, Tonbridge on Saturday have been cancelled due to the impact of recent bad weather.

Organisers were faced with a difficult decision when the course was found to be completely waterlogged and although it is unusual to cancel cross country running events, the safety of competitors, officials and spectators was paramount.

No decisions have yet been made regarding rescheduling the event or regarding selections for the English Schools Championships in Liverpool on March 8. Further announcements will be made in due course on the Kent Schools Athletics website accessed through the Kent County Athletics Association website www.kcaa.org.uk
