Slow moving traffic between Tunbridge Wells and Paddock Wood after accident on A228

The A228 has been closed in both directions near Pembury due to an accident.

The road has been closed between the turn-off to the village and a petrol station since 12.55pm today and has resulted in slow moving traffic between Tunbridge Wells and Paddock Wood.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 12.04pm to a collision involving four vehicles on the Pembury Northern Bypass.

"Officers are in attendance and have closed the road between the junctions with Tonbridge Road and Old Church Road while enquires take place at the scene.

"South East Coast Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance Kent, Surrey, Sussex also attended and treated a number of people.

"Officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are in attendance and would like to speak with any motorists who were travelling in the area at the time, particularly those with dash camera footage.

"Anyone with information is asked to call Kent Police on 01622 798538 quoting 11-0668."

The South East Coast Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
