POLICE are investigating an alleged assault on an ex-boxer who often sleeps rough in the Crescent Road multi-storey car park in Tunbridge Wells.

Officers were called to the car park at about 10.35pm on New Year's Eve following reports of a fight. It is understood the one-time boxer, known as Dev, was taken to hospital after being injured.

He discharged himself after receiving treatment but was seen again on New Year's Day after an ambulance crew sought to provide help for bleeding.

Possible vandalism, involving damage to lights and fittings in the multi-storey car park, is also under investigation.

West Kent police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 01732 771055 or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
