An OBE has been stolen from a pensioner's home in Hildenborough.

The war medal was stolen along with cash during a burglary at a property in Riding Lane in May.

Officers are appealing for information to help trace the medal which has Lieutenant Commander Frank Gordon Challen engraved on the back.

A similar OBE

According to the London Gazette Lt Cdr Challen was awarded the OBE in January 1944 for "untiring energy and devotion to duty in the maintenance and repair of landing craft during the Sicilian Campaign and landings on the Italian mainland."

Detective Constable Jeremy chapman said: "The medal is of sentimental value to the victim, after it was issued in 1944 to his grandfather."
