FIREFIGHTERS called to a blaze at a house in Tunbridge Wells discovered a rubbish bag on fire up against the front door.

The fire caused damage to both the doorstep and door at the property in Laurel Road, Tunbridge Wells.

Police say a woman inside the house with her young son had smelt smoke as she was going downstairs shortly after midnight on Tuesday.

Police in West Kent are appealing for help over the suspcious incident.
