Visit Kent is holding a competition to celebrate the county's best gardens as seen through the eyes of a local novelist.

The top prize of the competition is a luxury break for two at Rowhill Grange Hotel and Spa with two free tickets to two of the gardens featured in Sarah Salway's latest book.

Digging Up Paradise: Potatoes, People and Poetry in the Garden of England, Mrs Salway's latest book of prose, poetry and photography is inspired by the gardens she's visited across the county.

The winner and four runners up of the competition will receive signed copies of the book, which highlights different types of garden across the county including Penshurst Place, Leeds Castle and The Red House, Bexleyheath.

Sarah lives in Tunbridge Wells and is a former Royal Literary Fund Fellow at the London School of Economics.

Her enthusiasm for Kent's famous garden stemmed from her exploration of hidden stories and fascinating people in the county during her term as a Canterbury Laureate.
