Colin Baker and Louise Jameson

Former Dr Who stars Colin Baker and Louise Jameson are teaming up again to help raise funds for a cash-strapped arts centre.

Mr Baker, the programme’s sixth doctor, and Ms Jameson will star in Love Letters at the Trinity Arts Centre, Tunbridge Wells, on Sunday.

Ms Jameson, played Leela, assistant to the fourth doctor, Tom Baker, for nine months during the 1970s.

She said: “We hope to raise £5,000 for the theatre. There will be quite a party atmosphere.”

The duo, who have staged the bitter-sweet comedy by American playwright AR Gurney 12 times before, decided to help the arts centre after it lost funding, including £77,000 from the Arts Council in February this year.

The comedy follows the relationship of a couple from the age of six to 66 through their letters.

Ms Jameson, who lives in Rusthall, Tunbridge Wells, said: “I think it’s important for actors to support the theatre.”

Colin Baker will also hold a workshop for youngsters before the performance. Anyone interested in attending should email thesundaydramaclub@hotmail.co.uk

Love Letters starts at 7pm, with all proceeds going to Trinity. Tickets £25, including a reception with live jazz band, are available from the ticket office 01892 678 678 or email info@trinitytheatre.net
