Drivers have been warned to be aware of a fake police car that may be operating in the Tunbridge Wells area.

Mike Drew took to Facebook after a car with blue flashing lights tried to pull him over on the A228 Pembury bypass, when he was on his way to Colt's Hill.

The car reportedly approached flashing blue lights, and indicated left to signal to him to pull over.

Once Mr Drew had slowed to 10mph however, the car drew level to him, and then sped off.

He said: "I'm guessing they sped off when they noticed a big bloke in the front seat of a family car."

The masquerading car is said to have been a silver VW Golf with a 53 reg.

Mr Drew reported the incident to the police at 11.15pm on Wednesday, August 17.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Officers have investigated this report and have, at present, not located any suspicious vehicles from their enquiries.

"No similar incidents were reported on that night."
