A former DJ who performed in Spanish nightclubs committed suicide by hanging, an inquest heard.

Craig Brown, 38, from Hawkenbury, was found in woodlands near to his allotment in Hawkenbury Road, Tonbridge, on April 19.

A post mortem was carried out at Tunbridge Wells Hospital on April 22, where the cause of death was determined to be hanging.

The inquest was being heard at Gravesend Old Town Hall

Det Sgt Jason Booth told the inquest at Gravesend Old Town Hall on Monday how Mr Brown had previously discussed taking his own life and had a drinking problem.

Mr Brown had attended Alcoholics Anonymous sessions in an effort to tackle his problem, but his relationship with his girlfriend had been affected. They had broken up and she raised the alarm when she could not get in touch with him.

Coroner Roger Hatch said: “I am left with no alternative than to conclude that the death of Craig Brown was due to suicide. I give my sympathy to the family.”
