A heroin dealer believed to have tried to sell to recovering addicts has been jailed.

As many as 70 wraps of heroin and cocaine were found hidden in a void underneath the gear stick of the Mini Cooper Shaun Belifante was driving, when it was searched in January.

The 21-year-old was stopped after police officers saw him acting suspiciously, whilst driving a car between Tunbridge Wells and Southborough.

Mobile phones were seized from the vehicle, which provided further evidence of dealing.

One phone also showed Belifante had searched for the address of a local drug rehabilitation service, raising suspicions he was looking for vulnerable people to try and sell drugs to.

Cash totalling £15,000 was later seized by officers searching properties linked to Belifante, formerly of St Marys Cray, Orpington.

Refusing to comment to police on any questions about drug dealing, he claimed the money was a gift from a relative.

On Friday, Belifante appeared before Maidstone Crown Court, having previously pleaded guilty to charges of possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine.

He was sentenced to three years imprisonment.

Belifante will now be subject to an investigation under the Proceeds of Crime Act to claw back any cash or assets gained from his criminal activities.
