A New Year's Eve celebration being held in Kent is promising to have people dancing in the street, with a line-up of bands and a celebrity compere.

Hug-Many is a family friendly celebration being held on the historic Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells that will include a piper to pipe in 2015, fireworks at midnight, food and drink.

BBC South East’s Ian Palmer will compere the evening.

The headline act has been confirmed as the Blues Brothers Little Brother tribute act.

Brazilian, Cuban and African rhythms will be provided by drum band Bloco Fogo, with rock and roll classics from Jokin’ Apart.

There will be additional live musical entertainment from singer/guitarist Lorraine Hartfield and soloist Charlotte Bartholomew.

All profits from Hug-Many will go to the Hospice in the Weald at Pembury and the Pickering Cancer Drop In Centre in Tunbridge Wells.

Ian Palmer commented: “I am delighted to be supporting Hug-Many. It is going to be a fantastic evening, raising money for two amazing local charities. It’s just what Tunbridge Wells needs to see in the New Year and I am thrilled to have been asked to be a part of it.”

Hug-Many is the brain child of Ian Andrew, who lives off Broadwater Down. He said: "The support we have received is fantastic. It’s going to be an amazing evening – and with heated marquees, we will be able to celebrate in style, whatever the weather."

The event, which runs from 8pm on December 31 until 12:30am on January 1, will be free to children aged 12 and under, with adults and teenagers being asked to donate £6.

Owner of The Tunbridge Wells Hotel, Julian Leefe-Griffiths, has lent his support to make the event a success: “It’s fantastic that the Pantiles are going to be full of live music and festivities to see in 2015.

"We’re looking forward to welcoming people from across Tunbridge Wells, Kent and Sussex to make it Kent’s biggest New Year’s Eve celebration.”
