Tunbridge Wells drug dealers sentenced after police raid leads to cannabis, immitation firearms and kinves being seized

Two drug dealers have been sentenced after weapons, including multiple immitation firearms, were found at an address used to grow cannabis.

Police arrested Liam Braithwaite and Graham Stones after a search warrant was executed at a property in Holmewood Road, Tunbridge Wells, on February 9, 2021.

Officers took 36 cannabis plants, immitation guns, knives, digital scales and herbal cannabis following the raid.

Occupants Braithwate, 31, and Stones, 61, were arrested on suspicion of drug supplying offences and charged the following year with two counts of being concerned in the supply of class B drugs. Stones was also charged with growing cannabis.

Both men pleaded guilty at at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, May 25.

Braithwaite was sentenced to one year and 11 months in prison, including five months for a breach of a suspended sentence.

While Stones was given a shorter one year and three month jail sentence, which was suspended for two years. He must complete 200 hours of unpaid work.

Inspector Ian Jones of the Tunbridge Wells Community Safety Unit said: “Drug dealing brings criminality and the potential for violence to a neighbourhood and, in this case, residents raised their concerns with local officers.

“Following a period of enforcement we gathered sufficient evidence to bring these men before the court. One of them is now starting a prison sentence.”
