Crews in four fire engines and a height vehicle have carried out a training exercise at a seven-storey block of flats in Tunbridge Wells.

The exercise at Dudley Lodge was designed to test the tactical plan for the building, as well as provide on-call firefighters with the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the layout of the premises.

Creating a simulated ‘fire’ scenario, fire crews were able to put in practice their incident command procedures and fire-fighting techniques, including the application of suitable hoses and branches to achieve optimum water pressures at height.

Exercise coordinator, crew manager Nigel Dresman said: “Crew worked well together to achieve the aims of the exercise. As with any training, there are some valuable learning points, which will help inform our tactical plans going forward.

“We are really grateful to all the residents at the property and the management company, AM Surveying and Block Management, for granting us the opportunity to train on site, as it provided our crews with essential practical experience.”
