Man breaks leg in rope swing fall

A MIDDLE-AGED man was rescued by firefighters after falling from a rope swing in woods at Tunbridge Wells and breaking his left leg.

The accident happened in woods at the rear of Silwood Close on ther Sherwood Estate at about 8pm on Tuesday.

Ambulance crews, who were first on the scene, found the man lying injured in a deep crater beneath the swing.

He was given first aid and two crews from Tunbridge Wells fire station were called in to assist in getting him out of the crater.

The man was secured in a Paraguard stretcher and then Safe Access line rescue equipment was used to haul him onto level ground. He was later treated in hospital.
