Michael Hunte charged with robbery at Mercure Tunbridge Wells Hotel in Pembury

A man who allegedly burst into a hotel staff room and fled with cash has been charged with robbery.

Michael Hunte is said to have pushed his way into the private area of the Mercure Tunbridge Wells Hotel in Pembury and threatened a woman.

He allegedly demanded she open a safe, before fleeing the scene with money.

The robbery happened at the Mercure Tunbridge Wells Hotel

Police were called to the hotel at 10.15pm on Friday, and at 11.30pm, arrested 47-year-old Hunte at his home in Oakwood Rise, Tunbridge Wells.

He was later charged with robbery and remanded in custody to appear, via virtual link, before Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
