Man charged after allegedly spitting in police officer's face in Tunbridge Wells

A police officer was spat at in the eyes and face while dealing with an early morning incident at Tunbridge Wells Railway Station.
Police were there at around 1.30am yesterday after reports of an altercation.
Officers arrested a man and led him to a police van to take him into custody. It is reported he was spat at shortly afterwards.
Steven Thomas, 43 and formerly of St John's Road, Sevenoaks’s, was charged with assaulting a police officer in the execution of their duty.
He was bailed to appear before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on August 21.
